Memory Eternal: Olga Gavrilova

With great sadness, we announce the repose of +Olga Gavrilova, the mother of Julia Gavrilova, who fell asleep in Our Lord on Monday, October 19, 2020. Olga, who resides in St. Petersburg, Russia, had been visiting Julia here in New York and had been unable to return home due to Covid-19 related travel restrictions. She had suffered a blod clot in her lung last week, but had been discharged from the hospital. We are shocked by her sudden repose, and we mourn this sudden loss with Julia and her family.

A wake will be held from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Sunday evening, October 25, here at St. Andrew’s. A memorial service (panikhida/панихида) will be celebrated at 8:00 PM.

+Olga will be interred alongside her late husband in St. Petersburg once travel restrictions between the US and Russia are lifted.

Our parish community conveys its deepest condolences to Julia, her sister, and their family. Olga was a quiet and gentle woman, and despite our language barrier demonstrated her kindness and piety during her time here with us at St. Andrew’s. We now bear her forth to her creator, asking Him to grant her rest in the mansions of the just. May her memory be eternal!
