Memory eternal: Julia Gavrilova

With great sadness, but with hope in the Resurrection, we share the news that our beloved sister +Julia Gavrilova reposed in Our Lord in the evening of Friday, August 25. Fr. John & Peggy were visiting with her and had just finished singing the Akathist hymn “Glory to God for all things”.

+Julia had been ill for several months with cancer, and her condition rapidly deteriorated this week. Fr. John was able to visit her on numerous occasions to pray with her, anoint her with Holy Unction, and give her Holy Communion.

Everyone in our community knows +Julia as a devoted, loving, humble, and peaceful person. She was an ever-present parishioner, choir singer, and member of our parish council. We are all deeply saddened at this parting, but in faith and love will now bear her onward with our prayers.

  1. I first met Julia 6 years ago as a work colleague. Because our company has always been fully remote, we didn’t get to see each other often but I enjoyed our connection–talking about family, and leaning on one another for support at work. Over the years, I got to know her for her tender heart, quiet nature, and brilliant mind. I am grateful that I was able to visit her back in June when she was in the hospital. She was such a wonderful person and I will miss her fiercely.
