Exploring Faith Through Film

We are anticipating the beginning of our first Fall Film Series!

In thinking of new social activities we could host, and new ways to reach out to people both within and beyond our parish, we are going to try a trial run of film screenings this fall. This first run will include four screenings, on Thursday nights, up until the Nativity Fast/Advent. All films will be screened in the Parish Hall, on a projector, beginning at 7:00 PM. We will have popcorn, soda, and some other light refreshments. We also can have a brief discussion after each film, if the audience is interested. There is no cost or fee to attend. Memory Eternal: Archbishop Dmitri of the South

His Eminence, the Most Reverend Dmitri, 87, retired Archbishop of Dallas and the Diocese of the South, fell asleep in the Lord at his home Sunday morning, August 28, 2011. More information is available at the OCA website. May the memory of the newly-departed Archbishop Dmitri be eternal!

Memory Eternal: Fr. Alexis Tinker

It is with great sadness that we announce the repose of the +Priest Alexis Tinker. Fr. Alexis reposed in the Lord on Friday afternoon. Fr. Alexis was the parish’s third full-time rector, and under his guidance, our current ‘log-cabin’ temple was designed, selected, and erected. (Father is pictured above celebrating the blessing of the ground for our church.) You may read about his time at St. Andrew’s, as well as about the other priests who served St. Andrew’s over the years, at our Former Pastors page. The biography has also been reprinted below. Fr. Alexis’ time with us was characterized by warmth, love, and support for a small but burgeoning parish, and now we pray for his salvation and for the comfort of his family.
