St. Andrew’s to Host Pan-Orthodox Vespers

September 8, 2013

On Sunday, September 22 at 5:00 PM, we eagerly anticipate joining together, here at St. Andrew’s, with our reverend fathers, brothers and sisters in Christ from all over Long Island to celebrate a Pan-Orthodox Vespers service, on the eve of the Feast of the Conception of St. John the Baptist. Following the Vespers, we will have a chance to join in fellowship during a reception held on our parish grounds, and to hear a talk on the work of the IOCC International Orthodox Christian Charities, by Lou Zagami, the IOCC’s director of development. As our Christian brothers and sisters in Egypt, Syria, and in refuge throughout the Middle East experience great hardship, the work of the IOCC is of extreme urgency and importance, and it is our hope to join together to support the IOCC with strident effort as a unified Orthodox Christian community on Long Island.

All clergy are welcome to concelebrate at the Vespers service (please bring gold vestments) and choir members are invited to join in the singing of the service. Most importantly, all Orthodox Christians from throughout Long Island are eagerly invited to join together in this event, both in prayer and to support this very worthy cause. We look forward to seeing many of you, as God wills.
